IndeVets HQ Guide

Pets

As you know, pets are integral to our lives and to our culture at IndeVets. That’s why we’re excited to welcome your pups to our new dog friendly HQ at 325 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia.

We love having our dogs in the office and have made our space dog friendly.

The Penn’s Landing Dog Park is a few blocks away and has a great view of the Delaware River.

Overview

Dogs are like people - each with their own personality and behavior. It’s important to consider how your dog behaves and reacts around other dogs (different breeds, sizes) and people before you bring them into the office.

Making our pets feel at home

We have created a welcoming environment for dogs including crates for chilling out, treats, water bowls, leashes, tennis balls, poop bags and, of course, IndeVets swag for them to wear!

There are no restrictions on how your pets hang out in HQ long as they behave. Some of our recent visitors include Riley who claims the top of the huge bean bag when she’s there, Charlie who likes to follow his pop around from office to conference room and back, often enjoying belly rubs in between. Bodie likes to play fetch in our long corridors.

Ensuring comfort and safety

While we don’t have a limit on the number of dogs who visit, we do ask that, when booking a space within Skedda, you note whether or not you are bringing in a pet. This will be noted in our Pet Tracker, which is updated weekly. Keeping our pet tracker updated will help us all plan best for our visits. Some dogs love a full house while others may prefer being there when it’s quieter. There are three dog crates available for use, should your dog need a safe space for a break.

To ensure the safety and health of all our pets we ask you to provide the following care for each pet before you plan to bring them in.

The following are required for your dog to come to HQ:

  1. County dog license
  2. Current flea, tick, and heartworm preventative
  3. Vaccinations: rabies, bordetella, DHPP, leptospirosis, and canine influenza

Email proof of current vaccinations and any required dog license to before you bring your dog in for the first time and anytime your pet’s vaccinations are updated.

  • Dog bite prevention
    • If your dog has a history of biting people or other dogs, please don’t bring them to HQ.
  • Pet illness
    • If your dog is experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, sneezing, a low energy level, and/or is not eating normally, these can be signs of illness.  Please don’t bring your dog into HQ.  We recommend consulting with your veterinarian ASAP.
  • Dogs are highly sensory animals. Consider the different smells, sights, and sounds your dog might experience downtown and coming into HQ that may be upsetting to them.
    • Do they have experience riding an elevator?
    • Is your dog comfortable being confined in a room or in a crate?
    • How does your dog react to large windows and new places?
    • Does your dog “resource guard” – guard their toys/food/treats/human?
    • Does your dog consistently bark at unfamiliar people or things (friends, strangers, delivery people)?
  • Learn to recognize signs of Fear, Anxiety, and Stress (FAS) in your pets
  • Learn to recognize canine body language to prevent dog bites
  • Veterinary Resources
    • Remember you all have access to HQ IndePets on our Teams channel and our HQ veterinarians are ready and willing to give you guidance and answer your questions. Please feel free to access that at any time.
